Personal tidbit that you would like to share:
I am doing volunteer work this semester at Lincoln Elementary school, and am having fun so far. Last year, I volunteered the whole year at Bickel Elementary school. My goal is to do volunteer work in a different grade each year so that by time I graduate with my degree, I will have a good idea of which grade I want to teach. I am also hoping to… volunteer in all of the elementary schools in Twin Falls at one point or another, so I can see the variety in the schools. I think having a well-rounded view of the grades and schools will be very helpful for me when it comes time to actually teach .
What you like about your program (degree):
I am in the elementary ed program, and I love it! I love children; I love teaching; I love learning. I am especially interested in charter schools – I am writing a research paper for my English class right now, and have checked out 13 books on the subject plus downloaded 15 huge research articles to read through and take notes on. It is a fascinating subject. I also want to do interviews on the subject, so if you have an opinion on charter schools (love ‘em or hate ‘em!) contact me. I’d love to sit down and get your thoughts!
What you hope to accomplish in education:
First, graduate from CSI with a 4.0 in Elementary Education. From there, I will either transfer to ISU or Lewis and Clark (depending on scholarship offers and other considerations) where I will get my bachelors degree in Elementary Education. After I graduate and teach for a couple of years, I’d like to go back and get my Masters degree. Right now, I am leaning towards working in, and then doing my Masters on, charter schools. So Xavier, you’ll be hearing from me! Eventually, I want to work up to principal of a charter school. Maybe even start my own? We shall see – the sky is the limit! |
