Technology, as we all know, has had a major impact on education. The ever rapidly increasing rate of technology
change working in a synergistic relationship with changes in the structure of education (for example Education Standards)
and social changes (for example global outsourcing) means that technology will have an even more profound
impact on education in the future. Therefore, it is vital that teachers have a solid knowledge of technology,
along with an ability and willingness to use and incorporate technology.
Your technology Portfolio is based on the 6 National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for Teachers
developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). You will create entries that address
each of the 6 standards. As you create the various components you will be using some of the knowledge gained in
earlier Education classes and new material presented in the class. You will create a virtual teaching situation
(students, classroom layout, etc.) You will create a learning activity designed to address both student subject area
(math, science, etc.) and technology standards and which models the Idaho Core Teacher Standards you have selected.
You will utilize a variety of on line resources in a variety of situations. Other entries will demonstrate your
knowledge and understanding of student information management systems, Idaho Plato Learning Network, Excel, Power Point,
and various hardware.
Although this is one entry in your Education Portfolio it is a very large entry. Because of the size the technology
entry is often treated as a separate, stand alone portfolio.
